An Iranian couple and their one-year-old daughter are trapped in an old hotel where strange phenomena take place. Through a night that seems to have no end, they must confront the secrets that stand between them.
The Night is a horror film by Kourosh Ahari , an Iranian filmmaker based in the United States. With clear references to the The Shining of Stanley Kubrick , presents a scary movie truly exciting. The psychological recesses of the story come together perfectly with the machinery that generates the intrigue that sustains the rhythm of the film. There is a certain moralistic tone in the story, but if we look back we will see that it is something habitual and inherent to the genre itself.
The Night is one of the most important films that has given pure terror in recent years . You don’t need alibis to get closer to the genre and I love that. It is an exercise in a suggestive and atmospheric style where the suspense is shown naked, leading to some truly terrifying sequences.
